Saying sorry won’t save you

Madeline Brice

October 4 - October 30, 2024
907 Christian Street, Philadelphia PA 19147

Opening Reception: Friday, October 4, 2024

Blah Blah presents saying sorry won’t save you, a solo exhibition by Madeline Brice. saying sorry won’t save you is about perception and self-conception at its core, but it’s also about maternal instinct and car dealerships and big bright red nipples.

sorry, I’m not myself today, I’m trying not to die.

sorry, mother. sorry, body. sorry, world.

sorry, I’m attempting harmony, admitting fault even though I’ve done nothing wrong.

sorry, I’m seeking refuge, splitting the self, three for three.

sorry, i actually didn't mean anything i just said and was merely trying to please you. did it work?

sorry is not your savior.

When viewing this body of work, I ask that you don’t view it with a holistic narrative in mind, although perhaps one could be drawn. Instead, I ask that you view each piece as its own moment in time, past, present, or future; inspired by a multitude of feelings and thoughts and sorries.
